Sculpture discovery fun! Carve, mold, shape, form and create your own three dimensional objects then hide and seek'em like artist Darrel Nelson. Clue games and scavenger hunts lead to prizes. Explore a sense of place and your part in it with a community created memory time capsule. Participants will write their favorite memory, emerging idea or troubles on a slip of paper to then be encased in a sculptural piece of art. Be a part of the creation, be a part of the ceremony of sharing, be a part of conceptual art in motion.

The Black Hills Symphony Orchestra will be hosting our 23rd annual Fun Run/Walk event. Open to all ages, the Symphony presents a unique musical event including a 1 mile or 5k route with musical performances along the way. Race your way to the finish or take an easy pace and stop to enjoy the musicians. Participants will have the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes.

The Navy Band "Country Current" has appeared at the White House and performed on the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville Now! and the Wheeling Jamboree. The seven-member group performs all types of country music from contemporary Country Rock To traditional Bluegrass and Western Swing.

The concert is free but tickets are required. Tickets are available by sending a self addressed stamped envelope with the number of tickets requested to :

Valentina Lisitsa – Pianist Electrifying

Described by critics as a “bona fide angel playing” and an “electrifying pianist”, the Ukrainian-born Valentina Lisitsa has been receiving rave reviews ever since her initial debut. Born in Kiev, she began playing the piano at age three. After her studies, first in Lysenko School of Music and then in Kiev Conservatory, Valentina moved to the U.S. and eventually became a citizen. She has been performing in the world’s most prestigious concert venues and is currently recording with the London Symphony Orchestra.

You're invited to attend a literary social event to showcase local writers and the artwork of Harvey Dunn. Creative writers have been hard at work, composing poetry and short stories inspired by Art in South Dakota, The Human Story in Art, Animals in Art, and the South Dakota Landscape.

Youth and adult category winners will be announced at this event and works will be read aloud to the audience.

Join conductor Bruce Knowles and the Black Hills Symphony to present an evening of symphonic masterpieces including Brahms' 4th Symphony.

The Black Hills Home Builders Association is proud to sponsor the 2010 Home & Garden Expo to be held at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on October 23rd - 24th.

Mannheim Steamroller will be celebrating their 26th year anniversary and has sold over 40 million records of which 27 million of then have been Christmas themed. This holiday show will be sure to get you in the spirit with Mannheim Steamroller performing live and on stage the best of their most renowned Christmas pieces while Olympic, World and National Ice Skating Champions help make the music come alive. This performance will be hosted by Chip Davis (Founder of Mannheim Steamroller) and Olympic Gold Medalist Brian Boitano.

Rushmore Plaza Civic Center welcomes back JEFF DUNHAM to the Don Barnett Arena, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 8:00pm, the doors will open at 7:00pm.

Grease is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. Grease was first written and performed in 1971. From there, it has been successful on both stage and screen. The musical is named for the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as the greasers. The musical, set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School, follows ten working-class kids as they navigate the complexities of love, cars, and drive-ins. The score attempts to re-create the sounds of early rock and roll.

Rapid City dance studios collaborate with the Black Hills Symphony to present an evening of ballet and music that is evocative of the Christmas season.

The original Broadway production was an unprecedented box office and critical hit, receiving 12 Tony Award nominations and winning nine of them, in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It ran for 6,137 performances. Revived on Broadway in 2006, it remains the longest running Broadway musical originally produced in the United States.

The Story: In an empty theatre, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. Before the final cut, the director asks the dancers their name, age and reason for being a dancer. However, he wants more than just their resumes. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions and careers. From funny to heartbreaking, the dancers share their stories.
